Statistics from FlightRadar 24 showed that more than 70% of the flights in China are cancelled. The air traffic, from the top 25 Chinese airports, has fallen from over 10,500 flights per day to just 2,951 in just 2 weeks time.

Huge Icebergs collapsing and breaking from the Ilulissat Glacier are often up to 3,000 feet in height (1,000 meter) and are broken up by the force of the glacier and icebergs further up the fjord. sub_confirmation=1Greenland is home to the only permanent ice sheet outside Antarctica. The sheet covers 3/4 of Greenland's land mass. The Ilulissat Icefjord drains 6.5% of the Greenland ice sheet and produces around 10% of all Greenland icebergs. Some 35 billion tonnes of icebergs calve off and pass out of the fjord every year. In the last 25 years, the Greenland Ice Sheet is rapidly melting, having lost 3.8 trillion tons of ice between 1992 and 2018, a new study from NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) finds. The melting ice has added 0.4 inches (11 millimeters) to sea level rise. Its cumulative 3.8 trillion tons of melted ice is equivalent to adding the water from 120 million Olympic-size swimming pools to the ocean every year. Ice calving, also known as glacier calving or iceberg calving, is the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of a glacier. It is the sudden release and breaking away of a mass of ice from a glacier, iceberg, ice front, ice shelf, or crevasse. The ice that breaks away can be classified as an iceberg, but may also be a growler, bergy bit, or a crevasse wall breakaway. The entry of the ice into the water causes large, and often hazardous waves. The waves formed in locations like Johns Hopkins Glacier can be so large that boats cannot approach closer than 3 kilometres. These events have become major tourist attractions. Many glaciers terminate at oceans or freshwater lakes which results naturally with the calving of large numbers of icebergs. Calving of Greenland's glaciers produce 12,000 to 15,000 icebergs each year alone. Hey Everybody! The Carquinez Model Railroad Society is having their first open house of the season! Come join the fun and experience model railroading on a grand scale! The clubs 3 level 36’ by 60’ HO scale model railroad depicts the Transcontinental Railroad of the Southern Pacific/Union Pacific as it traverses California across Donner Summit to Nevada. Trains depart Oakland and travel through the picturesque East Bay Area before climbing the grade through the dramatic scenery of the Sierra Nevada mountains ending the trip in Sparks Nevada.

The layout will be open Sunday January 26th from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission for adults is $5 dollars. Bring the kids! Children under 16 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult.
