Derek Chauvin was charged with second-degree murder in the killing of George Floyd after kneeling on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in May 2020. The first day of the trial focused heavily on the video footage of Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck and featured other witnesses at the scene.
