Benjamin Crump, lawyer for the family of George Floyd, tells TODAY that the discrepancy between the county autopsy on Floyd and an independent autopsy is “critical” to the case. He predicts that charges against a Minneapolis police officer involved in the death will be upgraded to first-degree murder and that other officers involved will be charged as well.

After over a week of protests over the death of George Floyd at the hands of a white Minneapolis police officer, calls for change were finally heard when city council officials voted to ban the use of neck restraints at a virtual meeting Friday. They are also requiring officers who witness unauthorized use of force to report it from the scene, and intervene verbally and physically. Jamie Yuccas looks at Minneapolis and other cities around the country that are experiencing unrest over police brutality.

Those are the words of the people on the streets of Minneapolis protesting the killing of George Floyd at the hands of a white police officer. The fury and frustration has seen another night of clashes and looting across the country despite curfews and the National Guard on the streets. President Trump has said he cannot allow the mobs to dominate.

Hundreds of protesters gathered outside of the Barclay's Center where bottles were thrown at officers. Some officers were injured in the exchange. Police eventually moved in and made some arrests.
Outside the 88th Precinct, there was another clash as large crowds gathered with vehicles vandalized.
Also at the 79th Precinct, protesters tried to breach and enter the precinct, but they were pushed back by police and some arrests were made.

Walter Scott, Freddie Gray, Philando Castile, Alton Sterling gibi isimlerim polis tarafından öldürülmeleri ABD’de geniş çaplı toplumsal gösterilere neden oldu.
Ülkede polisin neden olduğu ölümlerin kaydını tutan ‘mappingviolence.org’ sitesindeki verilere göre, 2019’da 1019 kişi polis tarafından öldürüldü. Verilere göre ABD’de bir siyahın polis tarafından öldürülme ihtimali beyazın üç katı.
