National use-of-force expert Seth Stoughton took the stand Monday afternoon to give his opinion on former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin's use of force against George Floyd. The prosecution is expected to rest its case Monday or Tuesday, and Judge Peter Cahill said closing arguments could come on April 19.

Before Stoughton testified Monday, George Floyd's brother Philonise Floyd took the stand as a "spark of life" witness talking about who his brother was as a person. Cardiologist Dr. Jonathan Rich also testified about George Floyd's heart at the time of his death.

Chauvin faces three charges, second-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder in the death of George Floyd, who died in police custody in May 2020.
