London Black Lives Matter protest over justice for George Floyd
London Black Lives Matter protest over justice for George Floyd WorldViralMedia 19 Views • 6 years ago

BLACK Lives Matter protesters fill London streets over the death of George Floyd in the US.

People gather in Parliament Square, chanting 'No Justice No Peace' in the memory of George Floyd, a black man, who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck.

The 46-year-old was handcuffed and on the ground in Minneapolis earlier this week before falling unconscious.

Video of him pinned down, which has gone viral, shows Mr Floyd begging for air saying, "please, I can't breathe" and "don't kill me".

Protests have since flared up across the US, with the movement against police brutality going global.

On Saturday afternoon protesters in London carried placards reading "solidarity" and "Black lives matter".

Some read "the UK is not innocent" as dozens of people marched through Peckham, stopping buses and cars on the main road.

The Mormon War on Porn | Slutever
The Mormon War on Porn | Slutever WorldViralMedia 13 Views • 6 years ago

Utah has started a war against pornography. In 2016, Utah became the first State to officially declare porn a public health crisis, claiming porn has “detrimental” effect on brain function, contributes to “emotional and medical illnesses,” and gives rise to “deviant sexual arousal.” But with the science being murky at best, is this just Mormon morality infiltrating Utah legislation?

Porn is obviously a polarizing topic. The LDS Church ("Mormons") perpetuate the belief that porn addiction is a “plague like we have never seen,” however, the psychiatric community does not even recognize porn as a clinical diagnosis. So, is porn actually contaminating our brains, or is this symbolic porn ban just a way of shaming Utah residents for their sexual desires? Having sprung out of this repression, the pornography site MormonGirlz.com, founded by a lapsed mormon, directly plays on LDS inspired sexual oppression for the sake of titillation - illustrating the ultimate backlash against suppressed sexual desires.

In this episode of Slutever, Karley travels to Utah to investigate the state's complicated, illicit and shamefully sexy world of porn. Karley speaks to members of Mormon church and other porn-haters at Utah’s annual anti-porn convention, and spends some quality time with erotically-liberated resistance.

20-year-old shot, killed during Brooklyn Center traffic stop sparks overnight unrest
20-year-old shot, killed during Brooklyn Center traffic stop sparks overnight unrest WorldViralMedia 27 Views • 5 years ago

Protests erupted Sunday in Brooklyn Center after a police officer shot and killed a man during a traffic stop. Mayor Mike Elliott issued a curfew until 6 a.m. Monday morning for anyone in the city, with exceptions for those traveling for work or emergency situations.

Family members identified the man killed as 20-year-old Daunte Wright.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS talked with Wright's mother, Katie Wright, who said her son called her during that stop and told her he was pulled over because he had air freshener in the rear view mirror.

"He said, 'Mom, they want to know about insurance.' I said, 'When the police officer comes back to the window, put them on the phone and I will give them the insurance information,'" Katie Wright said. "Then I heard the police officer come to window and say, 'Put the phone down and get out of the car' and Daunte said, 'Why?' He said, 'We'll explain to you when you get out of the car.'"

Katie Wright said she heard the phone drop and scuffling and then heard the officer tell her son not to run; that's when the phone hung up.

According to investigators, during the traffic stop, officers determined the driver had an outstanding warrant. Police said he was shot after trying to get back into the car as an officer was trying to arrest him.

Investigators said they believe body-worn and dash cameras were activated during the incident and there are now calls for that video to be turned over.

Overnight, looters targeted stores around the Twin Cities, including about 20 businesses at a strip mall in Brooklyn Center. Not far from there, a large group of demonstrators outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department was met with flash-bangs and tear gas by police.

Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said more National Guard members would be deployed around the metro and in Brooklyn Center.

Protesters Clash With Police In Brooklyn Center After Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting
Brooklyn Center police say an officer fatally shot a driver Sunday, leading to rising tensions between protesters and law enforcement at the scene Here are the latest updates:

8:01 p.m.: Protesters are continuing to push law enforcement back

7:59 p.m.: Law enforcement has deployed tear gas into the crowd of protesters

Brooklyn Center police say officers pulled over the driver, who they say had an outstanding arrest warrant, just before 2 p.m. on the 6300 block of Orchard Avenue As officers were trying to arrest the driver, police say they tried to get back inside their vehicle An officer then shot the driver, who then drove for “several blocks” before hitting another vehicle in the area of 63rd Avenue North and Kathrene Drive No one in that vehicle was hurt
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say the officers involved were believed to be wearing activated body cameras at the time of the shootingvvv

This deadly police encounter comes just one day before the start of week three in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the now-former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd.

A crowd began to gather at the scene in Brooklyn Center later in the afternoon, including several people who had attended a St. Paul rally earlier in the day for the families of people killed by police. At one point, just after 6 p.m., protesters tore down crime scene tape, with the crowd and the victim’s family demanding answers from law enforcement.
The victim’s mother spoke to the crowd, who said her son — 20-year-old Daunte Wright — had been killed by police. She said Wright’s girlfriend was in the car with him at the time of the traffic stop. Police say that woman suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash, and was taken to North Memorial Health.

Wright’s mother said her son called her to say, “Mom, I’m getting pulled over,” and, “They’re asking about insurance.” She said she then heard officers telling him to get out of the car. When he asked why, officers told him they would explain once he got out of the vehicle. She said officers then told him to put his phone down, and then she heard someone telling her son not to run.
