First track The Mess is carried by frontman Ciarjs burning vocals as he warns Were running out of time

Similarly, Dawn Chorus Lines, features lyrics of heartbreak, contrasting sharply with the buoyant musical backdrop which pushes it along. Shortcuts is cut from the same cloth, starting off with markedly deeper vocals before ascending into a catchy and playful plea of I want you for myself tonight

Verona Riots evoke confidence effortlessly, with songs like Safe showing a band who are quietly assured in their sound. Not aiming to set the world alight, Verona Riots seem content to know their niche and excel in it. With Blue Room Beta they have undoubtedly hit the ground running. LH. 20-year-old shot, killed during Brooklyn Center traffic stop sparks overnight unrest
20-year-old shot, killed during Brooklyn Center traffic stop sparks overnight unrest WorldViralMedia 25 Views • 5 years ago

Protests erupted Sunday in Brooklyn Center after a police officer shot and killed a man during a traffic stop. Mayor Mike Elliott issued a curfew until 6 a.m. Monday morning for anyone in the city, with exceptions for those traveling for work or emergency situations.

Family members identified the man killed as 20-year-old Daunte Wright.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS talked with Wright's mother, Katie Wright, who said her son called her during that stop and told her he was pulled over because he had air freshener in the rear view mirror.

"He said, 'Mom, they want to know about insurance.' I said, 'When the police officer comes back to the window, put them on the phone and I will give them the insurance information,'" Katie Wright said. "Then I heard the police officer come to window and say, 'Put the phone down and get out of the car' and Daunte said, 'Why?' He said, 'We'll explain to you when you get out of the car.'"

Katie Wright said she heard the phone drop and scuffling and then heard the officer tell her son not to run; that's when the phone hung up.

According to investigators, during the traffic stop, officers determined the driver had an outstanding warrant. Police said he was shot after trying to get back into the car as an officer was trying to arrest him.

Investigators said they believe body-worn and dash cameras were activated during the incident and there are now calls for that video to be turned over.

Overnight, looters targeted stores around the Twin Cities, including about 20 businesses at a strip mall in Brooklyn Center. Not far from there, a large group of demonstrators outside the Brooklyn Center Police Department was met with flash-bangs and tear gas by police.

Minnesota Department of Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington said more National Guard members would be deployed around the metro and in Brooklyn Center.

NY riot cops suspended after shoving man, 75, to the ground and leaving him bleeding and unconscious
NY riot cops suspended after shoving man, 75, to the ground and leaving him bleeding and unconscious WorldViralMedia 12 Views • 5 years ago

Riot cops in western New York shoved an elderly man to the ground, where he lay bleeding and unconscious on the pavement.

The two officers were suspended by Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood and a full Internal Affairs investigation is pending after the disturbing footage emerged on Thursday.

The policemen who pushed the 75-year-old will not be paid during the suspension period.

The disturbing clip shows the man wearing a mask approach a crowd of officers in Niagara Square before he is roughly pushed out of their way by at least two of them.

He stumbles back, falls to the ground, and appears to be knocked out as shouts of "he's bleeding out of his ears" can be heard and bystanders urged someone to call an ambulance.

When one officer attempts to bend down and check on the injured man, he is pulled back by his colleague.

WBFO reported that the man is now in a stable condition at ECMC in Buffalo after the brutal interaction with the cops.

LIVE: Jury Selection Resumes in Derek Chauvin Murder Trial Over George Floyd Death
LIVE: Jury Selection Resumes in Derek Chauvin Murder Trial Over George Floyd Death WorldViralMedia 32 Views • 5 years ago

(Mar. 16) Watch live as potential jurors in Derek Chauvin’s murder trial return Tuesday, March 16, to continue a selection process in the former Minneapolis police officer's trial over the death of George Floyd. Five jurors have been seated after just two days of screening by attorneys and the Hennepin County judge, Peter Cahill, who had set aside at least three weeks to fill the panel.

An attorney for a former Minneapolis police officer charged in George Floyd's death asked the judge Monday to delay the trial, saying the announcement of a $27 million settlement for Floyd's family could make a fair trial impossible.

Defense attorney Eric Nelson also raised the possibility of renewing his previously unsuccessful motion to move Derek Chauvin's trial to another city.

"I am gravely concerned with the news that broke on Friday," Nelson said, adding that the announcement "has incredible potential to taint the jury pool."

Mayor Jacob Frey deferred questions about the timing of the settlement to City Attorney Jim Rowader, who declined to comment.

Representatives for both said they were following the judge's guidance to not comment on the criminal proceedings.

Prosecutor Steve Schleicher said the state had no control over Frey and the City Council, who announced Friday that Minneapolis had agreed to the settlement that Floyd family attorney Ben Crump called the largest pretrial settlement ever for a civil rights claim.

Absent a delay or change of venue, Nelson urged Hennepin County District Judge Peter Cahill to consider giving both sides extra strikes to remove potential jurors for possible bias, and to recall the seven jurors seated last week to ask if the settlement affected their view of the case.

But Schleicher said those jurors already promised they could decide the case based only on evidence presented at trial.

Cahill agreed to consider the request for a delay, but didn't think it would be appropriate to grant additional strikes to either side.

He said he likely would recall the seven previously seated jurors for further questioning though he already instructed members of the jury pool to avoid all news coverage of the case.

Attorneys must settle on 12 jurors to deliberate and two alternates. At least three weeks have been set aside for jury selection.

The first potential juror questioned Monday was quickly dismissed after volunteering that she'd heard about the settlement and presumed it meant the city didn't feel it would win the civil case.

"When I heard that, I almost gasped at the amount," she said, adding that she couldn't promise she could disregard it.

Floyd, a Black man, was declared dead on May 25 after Chauvin, who is white, pressed his knee against his neck for about nine minutes.

Floyd's death sparked sometimes violent protests in Minneapolis and beyond and led to a national reckoning on racial justice.

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter.
