Audio engineers are the unsung heroes of the live sports broadcast.

We don’t often think about audio when we watch sports on TV, but it’s a huge part of the experience. We spoke with several A1 audio engineers who mix the sounds of sports to learn more about what it takes to capture the crack of the bat and the swish of the net.

From the cadence of the quarterback to the sounds of skates on ice, audio mixers are tasked with getting microphones close enough to the action to gather the sounds but still out of the way of the players and the fans.

Once the microphones are set up, they handle the stressful task of live mixing all the audio for the broadcast, so that we can hear the announcers and the sounds of the game, despite thousands of screaming fans and the PA system blaring music.

In the end, if they do the job right, you’ll forget they exist.

Live: London Black Lives Matter protest calling for justice for George Floyd in Hyde Park
Live: London Black Lives Matter protest calling for justice for George Floyd in Hyde Park WorldViralMedia 34 Views • 6 years ago

BLACK Lives Matter protesters fill London streets over the death of George Floyd in the US.

People gather in Parliament Square, chanting 'No Justice No Peace' in the memory of George Floyd, a black man, who died after a white police officer knelt on his neck.

The 46-year-old was handcuffed and on the ground in Minneapolis earlier this week before falling unconscious.

Video of him pinned down, which has gone viral, shows Mr Floyd begging for air saying, "please, I can't breathe" and "don't kill me".

Protests have since flared up across the US, with the movement against police brutality going global.

On Saturday afternoon protesters in London carried placards reading "solidarity" and "Black lives matter".

Some read "the UK is not innocent" as dozens of people marched through Peckham, stopping buses and cars on the main road.

Should more Black people buy guns for protection? The heated debate | REVOLT BLACK NEWS
Should more Black people buy guns for protection? The heated debate | REVOLT BLACK NEWS WorldViralMedia 24 Views • 5 years ago

In the first "REVOLT BLACK NEWS" roundtable conversation, Eboni K. Williams moderates a panel with pro-gun ownership guests Geneva Solomon and Maj Toure to breakdown their perspectives on safe gun ownership, why the effort to protect ourselves within the Black community exists, and gun stigmas.

Anti-gun ownership guests also join for a second discussion moderated by Tanya Christian to discuss why they believe guns make the Black community inherently unsafe, and combating the pro-gun narrative. Panelists include Touré and Danielle Moodie.

Inspired by Sean “Diddy” Combs’ successful “State Of Emergency: The State of Black America & Coronavirus” town hall, “REVOLT BLACK NEWS” is a platform that is designed to report news from the perspective of Black people for Black people.

“When I started REVOLT, I always wanted to develop a platform to report the news from our perspective, from our lens, from our people, so I decided to launch ‘REVOLT BLACK NEWS.’” said Combs. “We’re here with solutions. We’ve already heard about what we can’t do, but this is what we can do.”
