WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A business was fortunately empty when a fire erupted in Winston-Salem, according to the Winton-Salem Fire Department.

At about 4:13 a.m. Wednesday, the Winton-Salem Fire Department shared video on Twitter as crews worked to put out flames at a business at 1685 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Fire crews said no one was injured, and they believe the building was empty when the fire ignited.

The fire was under control by 6:01 a.m.

It is their understanding the building was on fire for awhile before anyone called about it.

No word on the cause of the fire.

Winston-Salem police are investigating a deadly shooting near North Liberty Street.
Officers were called just before 2 a.m. Saturday morning, and found a man, later identified as Marcus Jerome Reid, 38, lying in the road on 16th Street. Police say he died at the scene, and had been shot at least once.

Philadelphia police are searching for the suspect who gunned down a Dunkin' store manager in North Philadelphia.The incident happened Saturday around 5:30 a.m. on the 500 block of W. Lehigh Avenue.The store manager, identified by police as Christine Lugo, 41, was opening the shop when the suspect approached her at gunpoint and forced her into the building, according to investigators.Once inside, the suspect demanded she hand over money from inside the store office, police say.Officials say after taking the money, the suspect opened fire, shooting Lugo in the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
