Party for the Animals: EU must tackle illegal trade of pets and animal abuse!

Illegal trade in puppies and cats is a growing problem in Europe. Party for the Animal MEP Anja Hazekamp successfully argued for stronger tackling of the illegal pet trade and animal cruelty.

?? Thanks to Party for the Animals, the European Parliament's Environment Committee almost unanimously approved proposals to better tackle the illegal puppy trade in Europe.

?The Environment Committee wants improved registration of pets, which makes it easier to trace breeders, traders and owners,

?Other measures proposed in a resolution include minimum animal welfare requirements, tougher penalties for illegal trafficking in pets and for falsifying (data on) pet passports, and more frequent checks for illegal trade by customs and police.

The entire European Parliament will vote on the puppy trade in February 2020!
