Former Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell said Sunday that President Donald Trump has "drifted away" from the Constitution, adding to a growing list of former top military officials who have strongly criticized the President's response to the nationwide protests surrounding the police killing of George Floyd.

"We have a Constitution. And we have to follow that Constitution. And the President has drifted away from it," Powell, a retired general who served under President George W. Bush, told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union."
The comments from Powell, the first African American secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, add to a growing list of rebukes made in recent days by former top officials who have expressed discontent with Trump's strongman approach to the protests sparked by the death of Floyd, a black man who was killed in late May by a white police officer in Minneapolis.

Atlanta Police Department released the 9-11 call that was made by from the Wendy's parking lot where Rayshard Brooks got into an altercation with police and was later shot and killed.
Police responded to a call about a man sleeping in a car at a Wendy's drive-thru and began talking with Brooks, who agreed to pull over. Authorities said he failed a sobriety test.
One of the officers tried to arrest him, which led to a struggle between Brooks and two officers, footage of the incident shows. Brooks took an officer's Taser during the struggle and then pointed it at one of the officers as he ran away. That officer then fatally shot Brooks.
Family attorneys, the district attorney and the mayor said the Brooks should not have been killed. For more than 20 minutes, Brooks responded to questions calmly and complied with officers' requests before they tried to arrest him.
"It's very difficult when you see (the video), when you see the demeanor of Mr. Brooks, to imagine that some short time later, it ends up with him being dead," Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard.

Trump dijo que está tomando dos acciones para restablecer el orden: desplegar la guardia nacional para estar a disposición de los gobernadores de los estados y un toque de queda en la capital Washington, añadiendo que "hasta que la paz se logre, si los gobernadores no toman las acciones necesarias, yo desplegaré las Fuerzas Armadas para solucionar el problema por ellos”. State leaders and health experts are at odds as they prepare for tens of thousands of people to take part in Black Lives Matter protests across the weekend.

New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has given the greenlight to protesters joining the Black Lives Matter movement, despite stark warnings from health officials it could facilitate a second coronavirus wave.

Despite COVID-19 rules limiting public gatherings to just 10 people, tens of thousands are expected to flout restrictions and converge on Sydney’s CBD on Saturday.

Premier Berejiklian urged protesters to maintain their distance from one another but infectious disease experts said this would likely be impossible at a rally, and therefore “absolutely” be a health risk.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has encouraged people to remain at home on Saturday, gaining the support of his state’s Chief Health Officer.

“Now is not the time for thousands of people to gather together, putting your and others’ health at risk,” Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton said.

While urging people to stay home, Premier Andrews said protesters would not be fined for flouting coronavirus restrictions while at demonstrations as it could only “inflame” the situation.
